Putting on the Cuff 

  • Wrap the cuff around your bare upper arm with the tube pointing in the direction of your palm and the artery mark over your main artery. 
  • The cuff’s outer edge should be about 1.5 to 2.5 cm above the inner side of the elbow joint. 
  • It’s critical to use the correct cuff size for an accurate reading.

Directions to use

  • Place the stethoscope head over the major artery, just below the cuff’s artery mark. 
  • With the valve closed, push the bulb and continue pumping until your blood pressure is 20-30 mmHg higher than normal. 
  • Deflate the cuff gradually by opening the valve at a rate of 2-3 mmHg per second. 
  • Record the onset of Korotkoff sounds as systolic pressure and their disappearance as diastolic pressure. 
  • After you’ve finished measuring, fully open the valve to let any air out of the cuff.
  • Before using, please read the handbook thoroughly.

Precautions

  • Inflate to a maximum of 300 mmHg. 
  • Take your blood pressure for no longer than three minutes.
  • Take a 5-minute break before repeating the measurements.
